Whilst Sea The Stars undoubtedly leads the way for Cape Cross' progeny this year, the Darley stallion has several other talented performers to his name, now including two-year-old filly Mudaaraah who won the Listed Star Stakes at Sandown on 23 July.
Settled at the rear of the field under Richard Hills, Mudaaraah moved wide with just over two furlongs to run and quickened well to win the seven-furlong contest by half a length from Middle Club.
The Shadwell homebred is out of the unraced Woodman mare Wissal, who is herself a full sister to Bahhare and a half-sister to Bahri. She has produced four winners from four foals to race, with Mudaaraah becoming her third Black type winner.
Cape Cross has now sired eight individual Black type winners and a further six Black type performers this year, including another promising juvenile in Colonial who has been allocated a rating of 112p by Timeform following his impressive win in the Listed Prix Roland de Chambure at Longchamp.
