First-season sire Shamardal recorded his second winner in two days, when Godolphin’s Namecheck broke his maiden in tremendous style with a six-length victory at Beverley.
Settled just off the pace, Namecheck travelled smoothly and making headway with three furlongs left to run, was soon in front and eased clear of his rivals to win the seven-and-a-half furlong contest by six lengths.
Namecheck is out of the G1-winning Nashwan mare Nadia, who is also dam of a winning two-year-old by Cape Cross in Cartel.
Shamardal, currently second to fellow Darley stallion Dubawi in the European first-season sires’ table by prize money, is also sire of G3 winner Arctic – rated 116p by Timeform, plus G3 Solario Stakes winner Shakespearean.
