After nineteen thrilling wins against only one loss - that was equally as thrilling even in defeat - Zenyatta, the queen of North American racing, once again delivered excitement to her owners, her fans and the Thoroughbred industry as a whole by earning the Eclipse Award winner as Horse of the Year.
At age six, Zenyatta is the oldest horse to ever receive Horse of the Year honors, following an unforgettable year that saw her win five of her 13 career G1 events. The racing world witnessed her courageous last to near-first effort in the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Classic but that did not dissuade the voters in honoring the best racehorse ever of her gender, not to mention one of the best of any sex to ever step onto a racetrack.
Owned by Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Moss, and bred by Maverick Productions in Kentucky, the daughter of Street Cry also won her third consecutive Eclipse Award as Champion Older Female. She retired with career earnings of $7,304,580.
Street Cry is sire of 12 G1 winners worldwide, three of whom have won at this level in 2010. He has sired more G1 winners in his first three crops than A.P. Indy and Storm Cat.
