Dubawi’s outstanding run of success continued on Sunday, 10 September when he recorded his third Group winner this week as his daughter Shamreen took the G2 Blandford Stakes at the Curragh.
The Dermot Weld-trained four-year-old was sent straight to the front under Pat Smullen and dictated the pace throughout the ten-furlong contest, easing clear during the closing stages to win by three lengths.
This was the third victory at Group level for Shamreen, who took this contest last year and won the G3 Royal Whip Stakes on her last start.
Shamreen is owned and bred by HH The Aga Khan and is out of the Group-winning mare Shareen (Bahri), herself a half-sister to Shamardal’s G3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes winner Sharestan.
Dubawi is also sire this week of G3 Prix La Rochette winner Glorious Journey and G3 Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes winner Anna Nerium. This year he has sired 21 Black Type winners to date including four G1 winners in Almanaar, Nezwaah, Sobetsu and Zarak.
