Patton victory for Convergence

Son of Cape Cross wins his second Stakes race at Dundalk

Convergence, a three-year-old colt by Cape Cross, landed his second Stakes race on Wednesday April 1 when running out the impressive victor of the Listed Patton Stakes. Run over seven furlongs at Dundalk, Convergence made his move at the top of the straight and won in style by a length from the G2 juvenile War Envoy. Today’s success doubled his Stakes tally after his five-length victory in the Canford Cliffs Stakes last season at Tipperary.

Bred by Shadwell, Convergence is the first foal of the Stakes-placed mare Zahoo (Nayef), a half-sister to the Listed winner Tactic and granddaughter of the Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Mehthaaf. Zahoo also has a two-year-old filly by Raven's Pass named Zaakhir, a yearling filly by Teofilo and a Shamardal colt foal born on March 13.

Cape Cross, who stands this season at a fee of €20,000 Oct 1st, SLF, is the sire of 92 Stakes winners including ten at G1 level, highlighted by Sea The Stars and Ouija Board. Already in 2015 he has sired the Hong Kong Stakes winner Pleasure Gains and the Australian G1 performer I’m Your Man.
