The new covering season is fast approaching and the Darley stallions based in the UK and Ireland will be available to view this week.
All 12 Dalham Hall Stud residents will be available to view on Wednesday, 11 and Thursday, 12 January at 11.30am and 1.30pm, while the nine Kildangan Stud stallions will be on show from 11am to 3pm on Friday, 13 and Saturday, 14 January as part of the Irish Stallion Trail.
Parading at Dalham will be five-time Group 1 winner and Champion Miler Palace Pier, whose first foals are eagerly anticipated in the next couple of weeks. Another first-time shuttler to return safely just before Christmas was Champion two-year-old Pinatubo, who goes into his third northern hemisphere covering season on the back of very strong support in his first two years at stud.
Also on show is fellow Champion two-year-old Too Darn Hot, whose yearlings made him the leading first-season sire by average at last year’s sales. There are already some very positive comments from pre-trainer, ahead of his first runners hitting the track later this year.
Another to return after a very busy season in Australia is Champion sprinter Harry Angel who ended the northern hemisphere season with 25 winners and has much to look forward to with his progressive types going into the new season.
All of the above stallions plus our new superstar sprinter Perfect Power, Derby winner Masar (another with first runners due to hit the track this year), Cracksman, who got off to an amazing start with his first runners and established proven sire Territories will all be available to view. Refreshments will be available.
Kildangan Stud has also welcomed back triple Royal Ascot G1 winner Blue Point, whose first yearlings sold for up to €420,000, together with World Champion Ghaiyyath, who sired a top-priced foal of 375,000 guineas last month.
Another stallion whose foals have proved extremely popular at the sales is record-breaking G1 Middle Park Stakes winner Earthlight, who had an excellent clearance rate of 92%.
They will be on show alongside Royal Ascot sprint superstar and Dubawi’s fastest son Naval Crown, new to the roster for 2023, together with Breeders’ Cup Mile hero Space Blues.
Outstanding sire and Dubawi’s heir, Night Of Thunder, will also be available to view, plus the promising young sire Profitable and Kildangan stalwarts Teofilo and Raven’s Pass.
If you would like to attend on either day, please contact the nominations team.
