Vazirabad, Manduro’s star five-year-old, took his Group victory tally to nine on Sunday 28 May when repeating his victory of last season in the G2 Prix Vicomtesse Vigier. Facing only two rivals at Chantilly and an extremely slow early pace, Christophe Soumillion was happy early to sit second before taking up the running just past halfway. With the pace only quickening at the top of the straight, his manor of victory did not equate to the gulf in ability with his rivals.
Vazirabad won his first Group contest in 2015 and since that date, no other European-trained performer can match his number of victories. He moves one clear of star filly Minding and three ahead of his fellow French-trained runner Cloth Of Stars.
Owned and bred by H.H The Aga Khan, Vazirabad is a son of the G3-winning mare Visorama (Linamix) and a half-brother to the Stakes winner Visoriyna.
Manduro, the brilliant Horse of the Year and Timeform world Champion, has sired six G1 winners including French top-flight juvenile scorers Ultra and Mandaean and top fillies Ribbons and Charity Line. Manduro is standing this season at a fee of €7,000.
