Freshman sire Night Of Thunder continues to empress with his two-year-olds as daughter Stormy Girl brings to 19 his number of juvenile winners, tops among all European first-year sires.
Out of the gate quickly at Carlisle Racecourse, Stormy Girl was only briefly headed in the six-furlong maiden event before taking command about a half-mile from the finish and finally storming away to win by six lengths.
Stormy Girl’s is the second of her dam’s (Refusetolisten) three foals to race and to reach the winner’s circle. Refusetolisten is out of a half to multiple G3 winner Snowdrops and to the dam of G3W Tawhid.
With an unmatched 50% winners to runners strike rate, Night Of Thunder’s 20 individual winners include four Black Type horses. These are headed by the G3 Princess Margaret Stakes heroine Under The Stars and the unbeaten Listed Denford Stakes winner Thunderous.
