The exceptional global record of young Darley stallion Night Of Thunder received yet another boost with the win of River Night in Saturday’s Listed Redoute’s Choice Stakes at Caulfield.
The victory meant that from the first 60 runners from his first crops on both sides of the world, Night Of Thunder has produced 36 individual winners, an astonishing 10 of them at Stakes level.
River Night became the second of her sire’s Australian Stakes winners resulting from his single season in Australia, after G3 winner A Beautiful Night.
In her Caulfield win, River Night led throughout to beat Masseuse by a length.
River Night is the first foal of the Stakes-winning Helmet mare River Pearl and was bred by David Moodie’s Contract Racing.
Night Of Thunder’s European winners are led by the Irish-bred Night Colours who took out the G2 Premio Dormello in Milan.
