Night Of Thunder could not have enjoyed a better year with his first runners and on Sunday, 10 November, he added an unrivalled sixth first-crop Stakes winner to his record when Cacciante landed the Listed Premio Rumon in Rome.
Racing off the early pace under Salvatore Sulas, the two-year-old colt came with a superb late run once entering the home straight to fly home and win by a neck from the well-fancied Crook.
Cacciante was bred by John Weld in Ireland and is out of the Raven’s Pass mare Suggest, herself a daughter of Stakes winner Boca Dancer.
No other first-season sire in the northern hemisphere can match Night Of Thunder’s six Stakes winners, who also include three Group winners in Night Colours, Pocket Square and Under The Stars.
Night Of Thunder returns to Ireland for 2020, standing at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €25,000, Oct 1, SLF.
Also on Sunday, Iffraaj recorded a new Stakes-winning two-year-old when Ifrachy landed the Criterium Femminile, also in Rome.
She won by a length and a half from Frivola (Dawn Approach) and becomes the seventh Black Type winner this year for her sire, who stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £30,000, Oct 1, SLF.
