Night Of Thunder has made the best start at stud since the Pattern began and on Tuesday, 10 November, he added a 15th European-bred Black Type winner to his record as his second-crop daughter Suesa ran out the ready winner of the Prix Yacowlef at Chantilly.
The field split in two early on in the five-and-a-half-furlong contest, with Suesa travelling just behind the leader of the group on the far side. Once asked for her effort, the Carlos Laffon Parias-trained filly picked up brilliantly to soon take the lead and eventually win by two lengths.
Suesa retains her unbeaten record, having won on her debut at the same course last month.
Bred by Thomastown Farm, Suesa is out of Sally Is The Boss (Orpen), a half-sister to the Stakes-placed filly Sheboygan and from the family of Brocade.
Night Of Thunder has no fewer than eight Group winners, and a further six Stakes winners, to his name in 2020, headed by the G2-winning trio Auyantepui, Night Colours and Thunderous. He is also sire of G1 Flying Five second Keep Busy and Coventry runner up Qaader.
Night Of Thunder will stand the 2021 season at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €75,000, Oct 1, SLF.
