Exceed And Excel's four-year-old colt was a Stakes winning juvenile, and also a Listed winner as a three-year-old, but he recorded his first Group success here on his seasonal reappearance.
In his first start in Group company, the gelding showed an excellent turf of foot in the straight to forge two lengths clear at the fulong marker, and held on to win by over a length.
Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock, Nideeb is the second foal out of the In The Wings mare Mantesera – a full sister to G1 performer Cloud Castle and a half-sister to multiple G1 winners Warrsan and Luso.
Exceed And Excel, who stands at Dalham Hall Stud for a fee of £12,000, has had an excellent start to the year, siring seven Stakes winners and 11 Stakes horses already in 2011. His other northern hemisphere highlights include the Listed-winning colt Spin Cycle and the G3 UAE Oaks third, Electric Waves.
Also successful on the same card was Dubawi Gold, who made a winning start to his three-year-old career, coming from last to first to win the Listed Spring Cup over seven furlongs. Stakes placed as a juvenile, this is the first Stakes victory for the son of Dubawi.
Bred by A H Bennett, Dubawi Gold is out of the Green Desert mare Savannah Belle, herself a daughter of G2 Ribblesdale winner Third Watch.
Dubawi, who stands this season for £55,000, has made the best start of any stallion to a stud career since the inception of the Pattern, siring 11 Group winners from his European crops, including the exceptional G1 milers Makfi and Poet's Voice.
