Juvenile filly, Shin Jidai, became the latest winner for leading first season sire Blue Point, when making a promising winning debut over seven furlongs at Newcastle on Saturday, 29 July.
Jumping nicely from the stalls, the Roger Varian-trained filly travelled comfortably mid-field, she began to pick up with just over two furlongs to run under Ben Curtis. Making smooth progress up the stands side rail she passed Kodi Lion, who eventually finished third, with fifty yards left to run and went on to win by half-a-length.
Bred by Weldspec Glasgow Limited and sold for 62,000gns at the Tattersalls October Yearling Book 2 sale, Shin Jidai is out of the Listed-winning mare Maleficent Queen (Mount Nelson).
Blue Point has now sired 22 individual winners including Listed winners Big Evs (Albany Stakes) and Action Point (Rose Bowl Stakes). Yesterday afternoon his juvenile daughter Snafiya recorded her second career win just six days on from her maiden win at Doncaster.
