New winner for first-season sire Sepoy

Deningy prevails at Sandown to become the latest successful European runner for his sire

First-season sire Sepoy added his sixth European winner on 19 August when his son Deningy took the seven-furlong maiden at Sandown.

Settled in second position under James Doyle, Charlie Appleby’s charge took the lead entering the final furlong and kept to his task well to win by a length from the fast-finishing Calibration.

Deningy, who runs in the royal blue silks of Godolphin, was bred by Bolton Grange and is out of the unraced Observatory mare Sky Wonder, a half-sister to G1 winner Mensa.

Sepoy is also sire of Listed-winning filly Baileys Showgirl, plus Group performers Chipanda and Kilmah and two further Black type-placed runners.
