First-season sire Ghaiyyath recorded a new winner on Tuesday, 3 December when Marhaba Ghaiyyath built on a promising debut last month to take the one-mile maiden at Lingfield.
Breaking well, the Charlie Johnston-trained colt was prominent throughout and took the lead with two furlongs left to run. He battled superbly in the closing stages to repel the fast-finishing Circus Of Rome by a short head, with the pair some 11 lengths clear of the rest of the field.
Marhaba Ghaiyyath was bred by Ballymaglassan Farm and is out of Zam Zoom (Dalakhani), also dam of multiple Stakes winner Nichols Canyon and Stakes-placed duo Bright Approach and Fujaira Prince.
Ghaiyyath is now sire of 10 first-crop winners including G3 Autumn Stakes second Stanhope Gardens and Gethin, allotted the highest Timeform rating of any two-year-old winning debutant in 2024.
Ghaiyyath will stand the 2025 season at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €20,000, Oct 1, SLF.
