Cracksman has been enjoying tremendous success with his first crop of runners, with two Stakes winners and a further Black Type performer to his name already. On Wednesday 5 October, he added a 12th individual winner to his record when Lieber Power prevailed at Kempton.
Andrew Balding’s charge was always prominent under David Probert and ridden along two furlongs out, was hard pressed by Previous King close to home but kept to his task well and won more easily than the half-length margin would suggest. The leading pair were three and a half lengths clear of the rest of the field.
Lieber Power, who holds an entry in the Derby, was bred by Essafinaat UK and is the fourth winner from four foals to race out of Group performer Astrelle. The mare’s previous three winners have all gone on to success at Pattern level, including G1 Belmont Oaks winner McKulick.
Cracksman is also sire of Listed-winning duo Dance In The Grass (who holds an entry in next year's Irish 1,000 Guineas) and Aloa (now heading for the G2 Premio Dormello). He also has multiple winner and Stakes-placed filly Crackovia, together with the highly rated winners Madly Truly and Ndaawi, (both entered in G1 contests), plus Rich and Miss Dynamic.
He has also been enjoying success at the sales, with his current crop of yearling selling even better than his first. They are currently averaging £75,000 and his close relative to the aforementioned Dance In The Grass was bought by Dwayne Woods for 110,000 guineas at Tattersalls yesterday.
