Following the success earlier in the week of his son Molatham, Night Of Thunder made it 11 first-crop Stakes winners with his daughter Lady Penelope landing the Listed Polonia Stakes at Naas on Saturday, 20 June. Breaking well and disputing the lead, the three-year-old filly found more in the final furlong, staying on to win by one and a quarter lengths for trainer Joseph O’Brien.
Lady Penelope is no stranger to Stakes company finishing second in the Listed Harry Rosebery at Ayr as a two-year-old after breaking her maiden earlier in the year at Down Royal.
Bred by Kiltown Bloodstock, Lady Penelope is the second foal from the Nayef mare Step Sequence, a daughter of the Listed-winning and G3-placed Crossover. She is a half-sister to the G2 Temple Stakes victor Snaadee and the extended family of multiple G1 winner and sire Charm Spirit.
Night Of Thunder has made a sensational start at stud, landing the Champion first-season sire title last year and siring three Group winners worldwide already in 2020 including the aforementioned Molatham taking the G3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot this week.
