Three-year-old filly Zubbaya became the latest to add her name to Dubawi’s ever increasing list of black type winners when landing the Listed Arrow Training Services Stakes on the Cox Plate undercard at Moonee Valley.
Only once out of the places in seven career starts, the Darley-bred Zubbaya won over a mile at Sandwon Hillside on 22 September before romping home on Saturday to take the $100,000 contest by almost four lengths.
Bred on the same cross as Dubawi’s 2,000 Guineas winner Makfi, Zubbaya is out of the Green Desert mare Sabkha, who was Stakes-placed in France for Sheikh Mohammed before being exported to Australia.
She is the 22nd Stakes winner for Dubawi, whose eldest runners in both hemispheres are three-year-olds and include four Group 1 winners.
On the same card, the tough eight-year-old Cape Cross gelding Capecover, already a winner at Group Two level, ran third in the G2 Moonee Valley Gold Cup.
