The feature race of the day at Vichy on 20 July was the Listed Prix des Rêves d'Or for two-year-olds and young Darley stallion Rio de la Plata recorded a new Black type winner when his daughter Rioticism swept home to land the five-furlong contest.
Settled just off the early pace, the Matthieu Palussiere-trained filly was always travelling well and quickened impressively close to home to win by half a length and record her third career victory. Previous winner Haddaf (Dawn Approach) was just a short head further back in third to add further Black type to his record.
Rioticism was bred by Haras d’Haspel and is out of the Cape Cross mare Romanticism, dam of four winners to date. The mare is herself a granddaughter of G1 Prix Saint Alary winner Rosefinch.
Rio de la Plata has now sired three Stakes winners in 2017, the others being Prix des Lilas winner Thais (also second in the G3 Prix Impudence) and Aiming For Rio, who has landed both the Listed Prix Marchand d’Or and Listed Prix Amandine this year. Aiming For Rio holds an entry in next month’s G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest.
