Fonteyn, a three-year-old daughter of Farhh, gained a first G1 victory on Saturday, 1 October when winning the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket. Run over a straight mile, she appreciated the strong pace and gamely recorded a three-quarter-of-a-length victory.
Lightly raced, Fonteyn has never been outside the first four in seven career starts and she was supplementing her Listed victory in the Michael Seeley Memorial Stakes at York in May.
Owned and bred by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, Fonteyn is the first foal bred out of the Cape Cross mare Luzia, a half-sister to four winners.
Fonteyn was Farhh’s second Stakes winner in the space of two days after Tribalist was victorious in the Listed Prix Matchem at Saint-Cloud.
