Nerves of steel
In what was described soon after the race as ‘one of the most exciting two-year-old performances of 2015’, two-year-old Shamardal colt Emotionless retained his unbeaten record in sensational style when easing to victory in the G2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster.
Settled in fourth place under William Buick, Emotionless was always travelling superbly and with barely a shake of the reins approaching the final two, he put the race to bed in a matter of strides and flew home to win by three and a half lengths. Raven's Pass colt Ibn Malik confirmed himself as a potential star when taking second in the same race.
Emotionless is out of the G1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner Unbridled Elaine, whose first three foals to race are all now Group winners including multiple G2 winner Etched.
Shamardal has now sired 24 individual Stakes winners in 2015, headed by G1-winning duo Able Friend and Dunboyne Express.
