Narniyn land the Prix la Coupe
Having remained unbeaten in her last three starts in 2013 (victories which included the G3 Prix de Flore and Listed Prix Charles Laffitte), Dubawi’s four-year-old daughter Narniyn made a successful seasonal debut when landing the G3 Prix la Coupe at Longchamp on 12 June.
Held up during the early stages, Alain de Royer Dupré’s charge began to quicken once entering the straight and taking the lead a furlong from home, ran on well to win by a length.
She is now unbeaten in her last four starts and a further step up in class is now on the cards for this talented filly, who holds entries in the G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and the Arc.
Owned and bred by HH The Aga Khan, Narniyn is out of the unraced Alhaarth mare Narmina, herself a half-sister to fellow Group-winning producers Narwala and Sawara.
Dubawi has now sired no fewer than 16 individual Black type winners this year, including G1 winners Lucky Nine, Tiger Tees, Prince Bishop and 2,000 Guineas victor Night Of Thunder – who will reappear in the G1 St James’s Palace Stakes on the opening day of Royal Ascot next Tuesday.
