Sheikh Hamdan's homebred Red Ransom filly Muthabara retained her unbeaten tag and shortened further in the 1000 Guineas market with a gutsy win in the G3 Dubai Duty Free Stakes (registered as the Fred Darling Stakes).
A Listed winner last term, she rallied gamely in the final furlong when rejoining the main pack, having raced in a group of only three on the stands side in the early stages. Muthabara is now quoted at 7/2 for the fillies' Classic at Newmarket on 4 May.
Bobs Surprise (Bertolini), bred by Wyck Hall Stud and a winning debutant last June, ran a promising race in the G3 Greenham Stakes, just pipped close home by Paco Boy. Red Alert Day, by Diktat, ran on well to take third for rookie trainer Simon Callaghan.
In Australia, Portillo (Red Ransom), a G3 winner last weekend, took third in the world's richest two-year-old race, the G1 Golden Slipper, while Kalash became the tenth winner for first-season sire Exceed And Excel, who has a strong lead in the Australasian freshman table. Al Farouk, who is already a G3 winner for Cape Cross in New Zealand, ran third in the G3 Christchurch Casino Easter Cup at Riccarton Park.
