Mr Lightside shed his maiden tag on his second start on Saturday, 22 June and was the fourth winner first season sire Earthlight. Travelling strongly at the front end in the five-furlong novice, the colt hit the front inside the final furlong and ran on well to score comfortably by a length from Lady Luzon (Pinatubo).
Bred by Yeomanstown Stud, Mr Lightside was a Goffs UK Breeze Up sale purchase. He is the third foal out of the winning War Front mare, L'Explora, whose three-year-old daughter Tazara (Blue Point) is Stakes-placed. L’Explora is a daughter of Damson, a Champion two-year-old filly.
Earthlight himself was a Champion two-year-old, winning the G1 Middle Park Stakes, setting a juvenile course record, and G1 Prix Morny. Amongst his winners so far, are the G3-placed Daylight, Xanthe and Lady Lightning who both scored on debut.
