Dubawi recorded a new juvenile Stakes winner on Wednesday, 18 November when his son Midtown made it two wins from two starts with an easy victory in the Listed Prix Herod at Chantilly.
Settled off the early pace under Mickael Barzalona, the Andre Fabre-trained colt moved up to contest the lead with eventual second Best Lightning before the final turn. Still cruising halfway down the straight, Midtown picked up superbly once asked and went on to win by two lengths.
Bred by Rabbah and now racing for Godolphin, Midtown is one of two winners out of G2 Cape Verdi heroine First City (Diktat), making him a full brother to Group performer Laieth. This family has enjoyed further success with Dubawi, courtesy of G1 winner Sheikhzayedroad, who landed a further four Group races during his outstanding racing career.
Dubawi is the most successful stallion to stand in the UK, ever. His 16% Stakes winners and 10% Group winners to foals are truly exceptional and his son Night Of Thunder has already begun to continue his legacy. This year Dubawi’s son Ghaiyyath, the world’s best racehorse of 2020, joins the Darley roster at Kildangan Stud.
Dubawi stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £250,000, while Night Of Thunder stands at Kildangan at €75,000 and Ghiayyath enters stud at a fee of €30,000, all Oct 1, SLF.
