With his first southern hemisphere crop of foals being born this season by the triple G1 winner Medaglia d’Oro, confirmation that one of the many star mares booked into him for the forthcoming breeding season is the G2-winning New Zealand Broodmare of the Year Triassic, the dam of one of the world’s top ranked thoroughbreds in So You Think.
Globally recognised by the deeds of his seven G1 victories, including back-to-back Cox Plate wins, So You Think is currently rated a 126 by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities.
The pairing of the Tights mare Triassic with El Prado’s son Medaglia d’Oro will produce a resultant foal bred on a very similar cross to what produced So You Think.
An extremely successful young sire, Medaglia d'Oro has produced seven G1 winners including the exceptional Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty, as well as C. S. Silk, Passion For Gold, Champagne d’Oro, Gabby’s Golden Gal and Warrior’s Reward.
With only a handful of reported foals to date from his first southern hemisphere crop, Medaglia d’Oro’s book last season included the likes of G1 winners Merlene, Rinky Dink, Star Shiraz, Shindig and Shamekha, while already booked in are G1 winners Jessicabeel, Miss Margaret, Miss Victory, Oxigenada, Regal Cheer, Sleek Chassis as well as the dams of G1 winners Roman Emperor, Star Witness, Skilled and No Wine No Song for the current breeding season.
The sire 25 international Stakes winners, Medaglia d'Oro is standing the current breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $77,000 (inc GST)
