Four-year-old Major Cadeaux may only have raced nine times in his life but he has put together a string of four victories, three of which have been at Group level, including Saturday's success in the G3 JW Lees Stakes (formerly the John O'Gaunt Stakes) at Haydock.
By Cadeaux Genereux out of the Woodman mare Maine Lobster, Major Cadeaux was bred by Earl Richard Evain and has only finished out of the frame on two occasions. He won on his debut at two in May 2006 and went straight to Royal Ascot where he was just touched off in the Coventry Stakes by Hellvelyn. He returned the following season to beat Dutch Art when winning the G3 Greenham Stakes before finishing three lengths behind Cockney Rebel when sixth in the 2000 Guineas. He has resumed racing in wonderful form this season, finishing runner-up in the G3 Gladness Stakes on his first start in April and winning the G2 Bet365 Mile at Sandown on his penultimate start.
Major Cadeaux will most likely return to the Royal Ascot meeting for his next run, as he holds entries in the G1 Golden Jubilee Stakes and also the G1 Darley July Cup on 11 July.
