Haras du Logis stallion King's Best sired his 23rd individual Group winner on Saturday September 3, when his four-year-old son Modun quickened up well to land the G3 September Stakes at Kempton Park. A late developing colt, he only made his debut as a three-year-old in this month last season and he hasn't stopped improving, taking the step up from handicaps to Pattern class in his stride with this one-and-a-half length triumph.
A Ballymacoll Stud homebred, he is a half-brother to the Group-class stayers Patkai and Saptapadi, out of the unraced Sadler's Wells mare Olympienne, who hails from the family of Islington, Greek Dance and Hellenic.
King's Best sired two Derby winners last season; Workforce, who ran the fastest-ever Epsom Derby and Eishin Flash, the Japanese Derby hero. The sire of 12 G1-horses in total, his exceptional 2007 crop now includes 17 Group or Stakes horses with Moden's triumph.
