Kesampour stakes his Derby claim
Kesampour, a three-year-old son of King’s Best, made a perfect seasonal debut and extended his unbeaten run to three on 1 April when easing to victory in the Prix Francois Mathet, run over ten and a half furlongs at Saint-Cloud.
Taking up the early running under Christophe Lemaire, Kesampour was asked to quicken two furlongs from home and soon moved clear of his rivals, running on well to win by two lengths. He is now likely to be aimed at either the French Derby or the G1 Grand Prix de Paris.
Owned and bred by HH The Aga Khan, Kesampour is out of the winning Hernando mare Kasatana, a half-sister to two Group winners in Kassani and Kassana. They are from the family of Kayhasi.
King’s Best is now sire of 44 individual Stakes winners, including six G1 winners.
