Impressive Artist in Germany
It has been a fantastic two days for Iffraaj with his three-year-old son Magic Artist adding a Group win to his C.V., a day after Benvenue became a G1-winner in Italy. Going into today's G3 Bavarian Classic, Magic Artist had a string of creditable efforts at Group level, and appreciating the faster going, he bounded clear in the straight to win easily by three-and-a-half lengths from New Approach's son Speedy Approach.
Bred by Darley and sold as a yearling for 105,000Gns, Magic Artist is out of the Cape Cross mare Artisti, a half-sister to G1-winners Mastery and Kirklees as well as Magic Tree, the dam of Shamardal's highly-rated colt Mukhadram.
This was Cape Cross' second notable recent Group winner as a broodmare sire, to go alongside Derby winner Australia, who is out of the great Ouija Board.
Magic Artist is one of five Stakes winners to come from Iffraaj's impressive fourth crop. He had a pair of G1-winning juveniles in Chriselliam and Rizeena; Europe's leading Sprinter Hot Streak and this season's impressive Stakes winner Prince Of All, who heads next to Royal Ascot for the Jersey Stakes. His fifth crop, who are from his best ever book of mares, are currently juveniles and already include three impressive winners.
