Iffraaj, who sired yet another winner on Thursday to take his tally of first-crop scorers to 33, has seen his outstanding success on the racecourse converted to popularity in the sales ring at the Tattersalls October Sale.
On Monday, the Denniff Farms-consigned Iffraaj colt out of Camp Riverside topped the first day of Book 2 when selling for 160,000gns, while the second top lot came from the Whatton Manor Stud draft, for yet another son of Iffraaj, which fetched 150,000gns.
Another two Iffraaj colts, sold by Lynn Lodge Stud and Langham Hall Stud respectively, each made 110,000gns later in the sale to help give the young son of Zafonic a Book 2 average of 66,200gns, with each one of his 15 yearlings offered finding a new home.
In the opening session of Book 3 on Thursday, it was once again Iffraaj in the top spot courtesy of New England Stud's son of Topkamp, whose two-year-old colt Cinderkamp won the second race of his career at Kempton that same evening.
As Iffraaj is about to wrest the title of leading first-season sire by individual winners from his fellow Darley resident Dubawi, the popularity of Dubai Millennium's best son shows no sign of abating either. In Book 2, he had 11 yearlings sell for an average price of 68,727gns, with top billing going to a daughter of the Black-type producer Livius Lady. The filly was consigned by Tweenhills Stud, which is to be the destination for Dubawi's Classic-winning son Makfi next season.
