Eastern Aria, a four-year-old daughter of Halling, successfully stepped up in class to take the G2 Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster on 9 September, becoming her sire’s 15th G1 or G2 winner.
Settled in fourth position under Frankie Dettori, the Mark Johnston-trained filly travelled smoothly throughout and battled superbly in the closing stages to beat Rumoush by a length, with favourite Meeznah a further length and three quarters back in third.
This was Eastern Aria’s tenth career victory, and her third at Black type level following her victories in the G3 Lillie Langtry Fillies' Stakes and the Listed Aphrodite Stakes in July of this year. She is one of nine Black type performers this year for her sire, whose other Group winners include G1 Prix Ganay victor Cutlass Bay and G2 winner Opinion Poll.
Also at Doncaster on Thursday, Iffraaj's talented son Wootton Bassett took his unbeaten run to four in tremendous style, landing the £300,000 Weatherbys Insurance Stakes in gutsy style. He has now earned almost £350,000 in prize money.
Meanwhile at Epsom, fellow first-season sire Librettist recorded his seventh individual winner when Hawdyerwheesht made all to win the seven-furlong maiden.
Bred by Baldernock Bloodstock Limited, Hawdyerwheesht is out of the winning Mozart mare Rapsgate, who is from the family of G1 winner Conor Pass.
