He’s the Man!
Just over two hours after two-year-old filly Donna Prassede made it two wins from two starts with victory in the Listed Premio Coolmore, Manduro’s three-year-old son Drive To Hell also kept his perfect record intact when landing the Premio Villa Borghese in Milan.
Having broken his maiden at the same course earlier this month, Stefano Botti’s charge took the step up in class in his stride and won the nine-furlong contest by a short head from the much more experienced previous Listed winner Refuse To Bobbin.
Drive To Hell was bred by Razza Del Velino and is out of the Stakes-placed Invincible Spirit mare Paint In Green. She is a half-sister to Group-winning filly Marvada and is from the family of G1 winner Charge d’Affaires.
Manduro has now sired 11 individual Stakes performers in 2013. He is also sire this year of the four-and-a-half length Italian Oaks winner Charity Line, who recently reappeared with a five-length victory to remain unbeaten in five starts.
His three-year-old colt Buckwheat (from the same crop as Charity Line) took the Listed Prix Ridgway earlier this year, while Global Bang added further Black type to his record with a second in the G2 Mehl-Mulhens-Rennen.
