Guineas glory for Night Of Thunder
Dubawi sired his second winner of the 2,000 Guineas in thrilling fashion when Night Of Thunder flew home to take the first British Classic of the season.
With the field splitting shortly after leaving the stalls, Night Of Thunder bowled along towards the rear of the group racing on the far side of the track under jockey Kieren Fallon. Once entering the final furlong, the Richard Hannon-trained colt quickened impressively and despite hanging badly in the closing stages, bettered his rivals to win by half a length from Kingman.
Unbeaten at two, Night Of Thunder broke his maiden on his debut at Goodwood by no fewer than six lengths before successfully stepping up in class to land the Listed Doncaster Stakes, this time by an impressive three lengths. He was second to Kingman in the G3 Greenham Stakes on his seasonal reappearance.
Bred by Frank Dunne, Night Of Thunder is the first foal to race out of the Stakes-placed Galileo mare Forest Storm. He becomes the 15th individual G1 winner for Dubawi, also sire of Makfi, who landed this race four years ago. This year alone Dubawi has sired 13 individual Stakes winners (three at G1 level), plus a further nine horses who have been placed at Stakes level.
Dubawi stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £100,000 October 1st Special Live Foal.
