Tough Cape Cross mare Sabana Perdida took her wins’ tally into double figures with her most glorious victory to date in the G2 Windsor Forest Stakes on the second day of Royal Ascot.
The three-quarter length triumph over favourite Heaven Sent made it three Group wins in a row for the French-trained five-year-old, who has now won ten of her 19 starts and been placed on a further four occasions.
Bred by Musaed Abo Salim, Sabana Perdida started her racing career in Italy, before switching to Alan de Royer-Dupre’s stable in Chantilly. She is out of the unraced Mr Prospector mare Capriola.
Cape Cross has another two exciting daughters scheduled to run at Ascot this week: Cape Amber lines up in tomorrow’s Ribblesdale Stakes while seven-time NZ-bred G1 winner Seachange makes her British debut in the Golden Jubilee Stakes on Saturday.
