A Cape Cross half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Regal Parade and this year’s Acomb Stakes winner Entifaadha was the second top lot on day two at Tattersalls October Sale when selling for 500,000gns.
Bought by Charlie Gordon-Watson for Craig Bennett’s Merry Fox Stud, the filly will be trained in Newamrket by Sir Henry Cecil. She was bred by Harry Herbert and consigned by his sister Lady Carolynn Warren’s Highclere Stud.
Another good return was that of the Cape Cross colt out of Musical Treat and thus a half-brother to the top-class filly Finsceal Beo. He will join Godolphin after being purchased for 360,000gns, along with a Cape Cross colt out of an unraced sister to Bachelor Duke, who was sold for 220,000gns.
Also among the best-sellers in the second session of Book 1 was a Shamardal colt out of Prima Luce, consigned by Watership Down Stud and bought by Blandford Bloodstock for 330,000gns.
A daughter of Royal Applause out of the Group 2 winner Never A Doubt changed hands early in the day for 260,000gns and is likely to join the successful Highclere Thoroughbred Racing syndicate after being bought by John Warren.
New Approach, the leading first-season sire at this sale, continued the good run started on Wednesday, with a colt out of Park Romance selling for 260,000gns, while his fellow freshman Raven’s Pass was the sire of Love Excelling’s strapping colt who made 240,000gns early in the session and of a colt out of Rise And Fall, who was knocked down for 260,000gns.
Exceed And Excel, with nine yearlings sold at Tattersalls so far this week, has recorded an average of 111,444gns with a top price of 200,000gns paid by Cheveley Park Stud for a filly out of the Listed-winning two-year-old Ruby Rocket.
Close to the end of play on Thursday, a full-brother to Dubawi's Classic runner-up and Group Two-winning son Dubawi Gold was bought by Ross Doyle for 190,000gns.
The final day of Book 1 of Tattersalls October Sale begins at 11.30am on Friday.
