Golden Pendant quinella for Dubawi
While all the hype was around the G1 winner Catkins who started a short priced favourite in the G3 Golden Pendant at Rosehill on September 27, it was fellow Dubawi mare Arabian Gold that was simply too classy first-up, claiming the event and leading home a one-two finish for her sire.
Resuming off a campaign that resulted in three successive Group victories and a narrow G1 second, Arabian Gold settled back in the field and when it appeared as if Catkins would take the prize, Arabian Gold came along the rail to snatch a half-length victory.
A homebred for Nick Moraitis, Arabian Gold is out of the metropolitan-winning Vettori mare Coablo, a half-sister to Stakes performer Pentelikon.
Arabian Gold is one of 54 Group winners for Dubawi which includes 16 individual G1 winners highlighted by the recent victory of Sheikhzayedroad in the Northern Dancer Turf Stakes at Woodbine.
