Despite heading into the G2 Prix Greffulhe a maiden, Gold Trip made light of any inexperience when running out the ready winner of the French Derby trial. The race was transferred from ParisLongchamp to Lyon-Parilly, and the three-year-old son of Outstrip had little trouble to beat Golden Horn’s first-crop son Influx by one length.
Bred by Michel Monfort, Gold Trip is the second Stakes performer from only two runners out of the Dubai Destination mare Saravana after the Listed-placed Got Wind. Sarvana also has a two-year-old filly by Charming Thought and a yearling colt by Ultra.
Outstrip, who is covering this season at a fee of £5,000, Oct 1, SLF, becomes the only European stallion that retired to stud in 2016 to sire two Group winners in 2020. His daughter Outburst landed the G3 Florida Oaks at Tampa Bay Downs in March.
