Folk Opera’s rise through the ranks continued on Saturday with a convincing victory in the Listed Pinnacle Stakes at Haydock.
By Singspiel, she was well regarded as a three-year-old in a season curtailed by injury but she has returned better than ever at four and is now unbeaten in two starts.
Bred by Abbeville And Meadow Court Partners, Folk Opera cost 105,000gns as a yearling and is the first foal out of Halling mare Skiphall, who is from the family of Muhtarram.
Filling the forecast position was Under The Rainbow, a daughter of Darley Japan resident Fantastic Light. Owned by Bill Gredley and trained by Barry Hills, this consistent filly has now won or been placed in eight Stakes races.
Fantastic Light was also responsible for a G3 winner in Australia on Saturday, when Mission Critical was victorious in the Rough Habit Plate. A G1 winner in New Zealand at the start of the year, this was his third start in Australia, showing improvement each time to take the scalp of highly rated rival, Moatize.
