First-season sire Librettist (pictured) opened his winner's account in fine style on 7 April when Little Libretto made all to take the five-furlong Novice Stakes at Nottingham.
Making her second racecourse appearance having finished a creditable fifth in the Brocklesby on her debut, the David Evans-trained filly was smartly away and ridden along inside the final furlong, kept to her task well in the closing stages to record a half-length victory over Bajan Bullet, with odds-on favourite Style And Panache the same distance back in third. Little Libretto is her sire’s first runner to date.
Bred by Agricola Dell 'Olmo Srl, Little Libretto is the first foal out of the Priolo mare Sharadayna, herself a grandaughter of G1 Prix Vermeille winner Sharaya.
Librettist was himself an outstanding racehorse, winning seven of his first eight starts including two G1 contests where he beat fellow Darley stallion and subsequent World Champion Manduro.
Librettist stands at Haras du Logis at a fee of €7,000 October 1st terms.
Also at Nottingham on Wednesday, four-year-old Halling colt Opinion Poll recorded his first Stakes victory with the greatest of ease, landing the Listed Further Flight Stakes by four lengths.
Sent off the 11-8 favourite, Michael Jarvis' charge travelled well throughout the 14-furlong contest and once asked to quicken by Frankie Dettori, effortlessly moved clear and was eased down crossing the line.
He is now likely to head for the G2 Yorkshire Cup, due to be run on the Knavesmire on 14 May.
