Dubawi’s progressive four-year-old son, Rebel’s Romance, extended his winning streak to three wins from as many runs this season with an impressive victory in the G1 Grosser Preis von Berlin on Sunday, 14 August at Hoppegarten, Germany.
On his first try at the highest level, the Charlie Appleby charge was sitting comfortably towards the rear of the field as they entered the home straight, he then began to make his way through horses before being ridden out by James Doyle to lead with just over a furlong to run to win the 2400m contest by a neck.
The winner of the G2 UAE Derby on dirt at three, Rebel’s Romance has flourished on turf this summer having taken the Listed Fred Archer Stakes at Newmarket in June, he then went on to win the G3 Glorious Stakes at Goodwood a month later with a one length win over stablemate Kemari.
Rebel’s Romance, a Godolphin homebred, is out of the Stakes-placed mare Minidress (Street Cry), herself a half-sister to G3-scorer Volcanic Sky, she is the dam of three winners and is the daughter of G1 Oaks-placed Short Skirt.
Dubawi is now the sire of 52 winners at the highest level, they include 2,000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes hero, Coroebus who lines up later today in the G1 Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville.
