Rose Of Coma capitalised on a consistent run of form to win the first seven-furlong two-year-old race of the season at Yarmouth on Thursday. Her length-and-three-quarter victory made her the fifth individual winner for her sire Kheleyf, whose successful debutants include the dual scorers Percolator and Dispol Kylie.
Bred by Pier House Stud, Rose Of Coma is out of the Red Ransom mare Rosalia. The filly has run five times to date and has been in the money on every occasion.
Her win came hard on the heels of the maiden victory for the regally-bred Ghaidaa at Newbury. The three-year-old Cape Cross filly is a daughter of dual Classic winner Midway Lady and thus a half-sister to Sheikh Hamdan’s Oaks winner Eswarah. Making only her second racecourse appearance after finishing runner-up on debut at Salisbury last month, jockey Richard Hills had only to use hands and heels as Ghaidaa strode on purposefully in the final furlong to for an easy three-and-a-half length win.
