Cracksman’s superb season continued on Friday 12 May when his progressive three-year-old daughter Weracruz ran out the convincing winner of the 10.5-furlong Grosser Preis der Sparkasse Hannover in Germany.
Settled in third position but always prominent under Leon Wolff, Weracruz mounted her challenge in the straight and taking the lead inside the final furlong, won going away by a length and a half.
Lightly raced, she has now won twice and placed second once in three starts. She is clearly well regarded, holding entries in both the German Oaks and Derby.
Weracruz is owned and bred by Gestüt Ebbesloh and is out of the G2-placed Lando mare Winnemark, herself a half-sister to German Guineas second Wolkenburg.
Cracksman is also sire this year of unbeaten Stakes winner Ace Impact, plus fellow Black Type winner Cracksmania.
