Excelorada takes Crawford
After missing the start slightly, five-year-old Exceed And Excel gelding Excelorada mustered enough speed to sit mid-field in the run, before launching down the outside of the field to take out the Listed R.S. Crawford Stakes over 5f at Ascot in Australia.
Having recorded eight wins and a second over the 5f from ten starts, Excelorada was bred by Erinvale Investments Pty Ltd and is out of the Zeditave mare Alborada, a three-quarter-sister to Stakes-winning sprinters The Heavyweight and Zedrich.
The sire of four G1 winners including Excelebration and Helmet, who has recently finished covering his first southern hemisphere book of mares this season before shuttling to Kildangan Stud, the victory of Excelorada was the 58th international Stakes winner for Exceed And Excel.
Exceed And Excel is set to stand the forthcoming breeding season at Dalham Hall at a fee of £35,000, while his triple G1-winning son Helmet will stand his debut season at €10,000.
