Exceed And Excel was himself a Champion sprinter and is well known for producing runners blessed with his tremendous speed. On 4 March at Jebel Ali, two of his sons – Morawij and Spin Cycle – dominated in the feature race of the day, the five-furlong Listed Jebel Ali Sprint.
Sent straight to the front, Morawij dictated the pace throughout and drawing clear with two furlongs to run kept to his task well to win by a length and a quarter. Spin Cycle finished fast from off the pace but could not quite catch the winner.
Morawij was bred by Dunchurch Lodge Stud and is out of the Group-placed mare Sister Moonshine (Piccolo).
Exceed And Excel already has a 2016 G1 winner to his name, following Flamberge’s outstanding victory in last Saturday’s Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield, plus fellow Black type winners First Among Equals and Headwater. Last year he was responsible for Coventry Stakes winner and G1 Middle Park second Buratino.
Exceed And Excel stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €40,000 October 1st SLF.
