Paddy The Pro built on his victory at Dundalk last month to take the six-furlong (1200m) nursery on Friday night, with his record now standing at two wins from three runs. In the following race, Excelente opened her winner's account with victory in the seven-furlong (1400m) maiden.
Both juveniles are by Exceed And Excel and Excelente's win now takes his tally of individual winners to 19. Croisultan, one of Refuse To Bend's 11 winners this season, was second to Paddy The Pro in the nursery.
With a number of valuable sales races and Group contests still to come in 2008, the Darley first-season stallions are to the fore of the championship table. Kheleyf heads the list, as he has done for so much of this season, with 27 winners in Europe (and one in Japan), including G3 heroine Percolator and five black-type performers.
Exceed And Excel has two Stakes winners to his name in Infamous Angel and Flashmans Papers, while Canwinn and Favourite Girl have gone close for Refuse To Bend and are both Stakes-placed. Sulamani has also made a decent start to his stud career. A six-time G1 winner, Sulamani did not race until he was a three-year-old and only nine of his offspring have run to date but four of them are already winners, including the highly promising Quai d'Orsay.
