Another good week at the Australian yearling sales for Exceed And Excel has been followed by the brilliant win of his daughter Minhaaj in Saturday’s G3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Flemington.
Minhaaj produced a storming finish, streaking clear of her rivals to score by four-and-a-quarter lengths from Muntaseera with Succeed Indeed in third place.
The filly is out of the Lonhro mare Telaawa and was bred by Shadwell Australia. Minhaaj has now won at her only two starts, having been successful at Bendigo on debut.
She is also the first foal from her dam who has a full sister to Minhaaj at foot.
Telaawa is a half-sister to the Australian G3 winner Charmed Harmony and to Suyoof, an Australian-bred G3 winner in South Africa.
Exceed And Excel is currently standing the northern hemisphere breeding season at Kildangan Stud in Ireland for a fee of €40,000 Oct 1, SLF.
