Exceed And Excel filly sets new record price at DBS Breeze Up Sale

Exceed And Excel, the world’s number one sire of two-year-old winners, Stakes winners and Stakes horses, set the sales ring alight at Doncaster on 24 April when his daughter out of La Pilaya set a new record price for the Breeze Up Sale of £340,000.

Having impressed in her breeze the previous day, there were plenty of admirers for this fantastic-looking filly, who was eventually bought by David Redvers, with Anthony Stroud as underbidder.

The second foal out of her dam, the filly hails from a talented family that includes Champion filly La Colorada, herself dam of multiple G1-winning Champion Lomitas. Her dam is a half-sister to two Stakes winners and another filly who has been placed at this level.

Exceed And Excel enjoyed an outstanding year in 2013, siring G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner and was also crowned Champion sire in Australia. This year he is already sire of two winners at the highest level in superstar filly Earthquake and Amber Sky, winner of the Al Quoz Spring on Dubai World Cup night.

He stands at Dalham Hall Stud alongside his son Helmet at a fee of £35,000 October 1st Special Live Foal. Helmet’s fee for 2014 is £8,000.
