Champion first- and second-season sire Exceed And Excel took his southern hemipshere season tally of Stakes performers to nine on Saturday 19, with two individual two-year-old Stakes winners.
Jumping away as the favourite runner based on her last start Stakes placing, the Tim Martin-trained Anevay went to the lead and never looked back, scoring by almost two lengths in the Listed Talindert Stakes over Cash For Matt and Exceed And Excel colt Covered In Class.
Ridden by Nick Hall, the filly became the 30th individual Stakes winner for her dual G1-winning sire. Trainer Tim Martin, who also trained Exceed And Excel, stated that he felt the filly was one of the fastest racehorses he has trained and if she pulled up well, she is likely to return in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes next Saturday.
Bred by Perrin Legal Pty Ltd, the filly is out of the Hennessy mare Categorical, making her a three-quarter sister to the G2 winner Krupt. From the family of sires Flying Spur, Encosta de Lago and Holy Roman Emperor, this filly is a valauable broodmare prospect on retirement from the track.
Less than an hour and a half later, the Lee Freedman-trained Chinchilla recorded back-to-back Stakes victories, taking out the Listed Queen Adelaide Stakes at Morphettville by a long neck from Anythingthatmoves.
Racing in the maroon and white silks of Sheikh Mohammed, the filly has won three of her five races to date, all in different states.
Bred by Darley Australia, the filly is out of the Eternity Range mare Chestnut Star and comes from the family of Stakes winners Jar Jar Binks, Chettak, Red Glory, Niagara and Heroism.
Exceed And Excel is also sire of G1 winner Reward For Effort; plus G2 winners Infamous Angel and Wilander amongst his 30 world-wide Stakes winners.
