Dubawi’s outstanding son Ghaiyyath added further G1 lustre to his record with a fantastic front-running performance in the G1 Eclipse at Sandown Park on Sunday, 5 July. Following a devastating run in the G1 Coronation Cup at Newmarket, the five-year-old lined up in a classy renewal opposing no fewer than four previous G1 winners. Slowly away initially, Ghaiyyath was soon sent to the fore by jockey William Buick settling in his characteristic front-running position. Quickening at the three-furlong pole, the imposing son of Dubawi powered strongly to the line to win comfortably by two and a quarter lengths leaving multiple G1 darling Enable to battle for minor placings.
Bred by Springbank Way Stud and a €1.1million foal purchase at Goffs, Ghaiyyath is a half-brother to G1 winner Zhukova out of Galileo’s G1 Irish One Thousand Guineas heroine Nightime. She is the best performer from the Listed winning Indian Ridge mare Caumshinaun. Ghaiyyath is bred on the same magical Dubawi/ Galileo cross that has also produced Classic winner and sire of the moment Night Of Thunder.
Ghaiyyath is one of 42 individual G1 winners sired by the sensational Dubawi and the second G1 winner in just two weeks following Lord North’s win in the G1 Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot. Further Group success this season includes the G2 winning trio of Benbatl, Glorious Journey and Ambition, the later being bred on similar lines to Ghaiyyath as the first foal from New Approach’s Classic winning daughter Talent.
